Horse Riding Week 2 Day 1
Day 1 at horse riding camp was so exciting! When we arrived, I couldn't wait to meet the horses. They were all so pretty some small and some really big!! They were all really pretty!
First, we learned about horse safety and how to approach them gently. We got to brush and pet the horses, which was awesome because they were so soft! We were also learning about all the different kinds of brushes.
After that, we learned how to put on the saddles and bridles. It was a bit tricky for the other kids but I knew it and it was pretty easy for me, but the instructors helped them until they understood it better!
Then came the best part - riding the horses! I was a little nervous at first, because I have never ridden there before, but it felt amazing. We practiced walking, trotting and turning in the riding arena. The horses were really gentle and listened to our commands.
During lunch break, we talked about what we learned and shared stories about our favorite horses. It was cool to hear everyone's experiences. We were also checking allergy's just incase to make sure no one gets any allergic reactions.
In the afternoon, we learned about different horse breeds and what bone a horse/pony has. It was really hard to remember the different bones in a horses body, but I think I got the hang of it.
At the end of the day, we fed the horses some treats. We were also practicing picking up and leading. Such as putting the halt on and off. They had a challenge to teach the teacher how to do it and I was the only one to do it and they said I was a pro from the other kids!! I can't wait for Day 2 to learn even more and ride again!
