Horse riding camp day 2
Welcome back to my horse riding camp vlog, it's day two, and it was such a fun and eventful day!
This morning, I woke up around 7 a.m. because everyone in the house had places to be, so I got an early start too. I made myself breakfast, just a glass of milk and a slice of toasted bread — simple but filling. Then I packed my lunch: a sandwich, some fruit (because I love fruit!), and a few snacks.
After that, I got ready for the day, packed up my things, and headed off to the barn. My trainer was already there, and not long after, my friend arrived too! We waited together as more people started to show up.
My friend rode first, so we watched her lesson. She was doing jumps, and not just small ones, she was clearing 3 feet! It was really fun to watch her ride.
While others were getting ready for their lessons, we also learned how to braid a horse’s mane. It’s different from braiding human hair, there’s a special technique, especially for competitions and shows. It was so cool to learn!
Then it was my turn to ride. Today, we focused on balance and keeping my body steady without leaning forward. We also practiced riding without using the reins while on a lunge line, which helped because the horse stayed in one place and I could really work on my posture.
We even did the YMCA while trotting, it was funny and actually pretty hard!
After that, we moved on to jumping! I warmed up with cross rails and then started jumping around 2 feet! It was my first time jumping that high, and it felt amazing, so exciting but a little scary too. Before the jumps, we worked on controlling my speed so my horse wouldn’t go too fast. Once that was good, we jumped, and it was awesome!
When my lesson ended, I washed my horse and put her back in her stall. Then I ate the lunch and snacks I had packed earlier, they tasted even better after all that riding!
After lunch, we headed to the pool and played a bunch of fun games. Then we went on a trail ride, but this time bareback! That means we rode without saddles, so it was all about balance. I trotted bareback, which was really fun, but I didn’t canter because I wasn’t ready to fall off just yet!
After the trail ride, I gave my horse a quick rinse and returned her to her stall.
And that was my day! Thanks so much for listening come back tomorrow for another camp day vlog. Can’t wait to share more!
