What I did today in horse riding camp. First I woke up at 6:30 am and I was very sleepy but I still woke up. I went downstairs and I made my lunch which was a Nutella sandwich, 3 packs of goldfish and watermelon which spilled everywhere! And I made my breakfast which was a Nutella bread and a banana. Then I went to go change my clothes and I got ready for the day doing my skincare and my hair. I put my hair into twisted braids which are very easy for me. And I just make sure everything is ready to go. And then we leave in time just in time before I am late. I put my things down in my cubbies and I walk around petting some of the horses. And then they call us to the front. We play a game of neighbor before we start riding. We start grooming and tacking up the horse that we rode. Her name was MJ the horse we rode. She was a really pretty horse. Anyways we go into the indoor area but then Mrs. Holly wanted to go to the outdoor arena because the sun wasn't shining a lot anymore. We did...
Today was a really fun and exciting day because I got to volunteer at a horse riding camp! I arrived around 8:30 a.m. and put my stuff away in the volunteer room. One of my friends was already there, so we spent a little time chatting before one of the trainers came in. She showed us how to make the horses’ food and explained how much hay and grain each horse needed. After that, we helped lead some of the horses in from the field and into their stables. While we waited for the rest of the campers to show up, we played a fun game of animal charades with the kids, which helped everyone feel more relaxed and ready for the day. Once all the campers were there, the volunteers started grabbing horses for them, and I was assigned a pony named Cappy. Some of the kids already knew how to brush the horses, but others were brand new, so I helped a few of them learn how to groom Cappy p...
Yesterday, I had another amazing horseback riding lesson, and it was a lot of fun! When I was driving to the stables, it was snowing, which made everything look so magical. Upon arriving, I saw my little friend, Hannah, who was there when I first started riding. She had helped me get settled and showed me where everything was. It was nice to see her again! For this lesson, I rode Rama, a wonderful horse. Rama was actually the first horse I cantered on at my new stables, so I was excited to ride him again. After I caught him and led him to the crossties, I gave him a good grooming to make sure he was clean and comfortable. One thing that was a bit off was the non-slip pad—it wasn’t positioned correctly, which made everything a little tricky. I realized I would need to pick a better pad for next time. Once I got Rama all tacked up and ready to go, I was good to ride. Since it was snowing, there were only Hannah and me in the lesson. Our instructor, Ms. Joanne, couldn’t make it, so Megan ...
